DEAR CIRCLE:

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your life, and for being part of mine.

As the big wheel keeps turning, we find ourselves in:

the Black New Moon of July 31, 2019.

I like to think of the New Moon as the time in the cycle when we can completely disappear, to wherever we want to go, and emerge, as whoever we want to be.

Read that again slowly.

It is the magic moment.

In the pitch black of the theater, the set is changed; when the light shines again, we are transported instantly, if even just by illusion.

Change is rarely accomplished in this manner, but, the flicker that starts...

Dear Circle,

Welcome to our summer book club journey.

Each day you will find posted a short reading selection, a healing tool and a self-charting tip. Enjoy!

Reading:Yoga of Herbs p. 94-96

"There are two levels of healing in Ayurveda:

the physical and the mental.

The basic means of healing on the physical level is through [food and herbs].

The basic means of healing on the mental or psychological level is through [mantra and meditation]."

-Dr. Vasant Lad, 1986

Healing Tool: Mantra-Meditation

At this point I don't need to convince you that meditation WORKS.

Research about mindfulness and articles exclaiming th...

Dear Circle-

Today finds me walking through 'Summer in Summer'.

Late July sun burns hot, long and bright stirring up the Fire element in everyone

PLUS

I am on day 25 of my personal cycle: the week reverently referred to as the "Fire-Walk" by the cycle-tracking sisterhood OR as the elusive and oft-feared "Pre-Menstrual [Time]" by those understanding it less well.

I share this with you because, being in tune with my lunar rhythm represents one of the simplest yet important ways that I practice "life-science/Ayurveda" or "self-care", and wanted to introduce the concept as soon as possible.

This week marked the SECOND healers circle of our summer journey.

I walked away in AWE, and also a little bit RAW, as we set the intention of authenticity and powerfully carried it through, to the reward of juicy reward of connection, release and inspiration.

I bow always to you beautiful souls who showed up.

Making [all] dreams come true is absolutely possible, but it still takes some work.

In fact, it can be hard work.

Thank goodness we have each other, and here is your GUIDE for the next-steps until we meet again.

Dear Circle-

I was skimming the first chapter of "Your Money or Your Life (YMOYL)" this morning with an aim to either do some work on Step 1, or complete my discussion questions in the forum to prepare for our call on Thursday, but was both stopped and intrigued by the following passage:

Reading:Your Money or Your Life  p. 6-7

"Even if we were financially able to turn our backs on jobs that limit our joy and insult our values, we are all too often psychologically unable to free ourselves. We take our identity and our self-worth from our jobs.

Our jobs have replaced, family, neighborhood, civic affairs, church an...

Happy 1st Quarter Moon from outside the Juneau office!

Today I had the pleasure of meeting in virtual circle with physicians, physicians assistants, and nurse practitioners from all over the country, doing rad things to bring innovative, practical and effective healing to their communities.

Wow! What a way to get inspired!

In light of this sweet experience, I felt inclined to share the following story, which is actually the deep-seeded answer to a question I get all the time:

"What inspired you to become a doctor?"

As I write this I am 31 and have been a doctor for 6 years.

Finding the root of this stor...

Heavily supported by research while reading more like a well written novel, I found this to be quite a page turner.

Published in 2016, the studies presented truly are the most up to date we have, and are the base for research in progress.

As a scientist myself, I appreciate the author's cautious approach, and dedication to presenting high-quality evidence.

A Journey into the Science of Mind over Body

When I ask people what "healthy" means, food, diet or nutrition are often among the first topics they bring up.

Born a female in the late 80's, in the era of barbie and slim-fast, I have ridden the wave of fad diets and body perception issues that has swept the country.

As a physician, I frequently engage with people who are completed frustrated, fed up, if you will, by not being able to find reliable, consistent information about what constitutes a "healthy" diet.

Amidst an advertising and economic madhouse, with profit-over-health written into most business plans, TRUTH can be hard to come by.

When I rea...

To my fellow Americans:

1 million of us will lose our doctor by suicide this year.

Our healthcare system will not change if it continues to kill the physicians who need change most.

This past weekend the Washington Post published this article, and I found it too important not to share. I highly recommend reading, if you haven't already:

What I’ve learned from my tally of 757 doctor suicides.

Dr. Pamela Wible, MD

I remember the day my dream died: May 8th, 2013.

Graduating from medical school in 2012, I already had MD behind my name and was in my 11th month of residency.

The brick was warm beneath my t...
